Who are we?

Light for Orphans (LFO) is a US-based 501 (c) (3) non-for-profit organization that is non-political and strictly humanitarian. Light for Orphans was founded in 2005 and incorporated in 2007 by a group of Coptic volunteers in Canada and the USA. These founders were Coptic Egyptians who were dedicated to providing for the physical, emotional, and mental needs of orphaned children in Egypt. LFO’s mission is to alleviate the sufferings of impoverished and disadvantaged orphans and families in Egypt by providing support for their physical, emotional, psychological, and mental well being.

Who do we serve?

Egyptian children with virtually no family or social support. They live in poverty in subhuman conditions devoid of basic needs such as nutrition, clothing, housing and sanitary facilities. They have no prospect for education or training opportunities that would empower them to function as productive citizens in the future. An orphan in Egypt is classified in two ways: either supported by a mother or no parental support. LFO supports the orphans who have been abandoned and live in orphanages with no familial support.

How do we serve?

Founders of Light for Orphans have a firsthand experience of the suffering of the minority children, particularly the orphans, and are set out to fight on behalf of these orphans for a chance of a better life seeking your support to achieve the following objectives:

1. Providing safe and clean housing for orphans.
2. Securing 3 meals a day for each child to ensure basic nutritional needs.
3. Providing clean clothes for the children consistent with basic human needs & dignity.
4. Providing educational opportunities through school vouchers, group and individual tutoring as well as post-school computer classes.
5. Providing psychological and social support network for orphans of special needs who are generally devoid of father and/ or mother figures in their lives.

While it is hard to believe that these conditions of human misery actually exist, our presentations will provide you with specific information regarding these orphans with pictures and documentations that are sufficient enough to move your heart as caring humans. We are confident in your help in providing financial, moral logistic or volunteer support.
